This is an interesting Firefox extension: Blogger Web Comments. Check out what bloggers are saying about a webpage without leaving that page.

Survey

Wie ich blogge?! Instead of blogging and updating this weblog, I´ve been filling out this survey (in German). It´s interesting that this blog already runs for 36 months.

Kevin Sites on Yahoo!

Yahoo started (today) it´s first big blog type content site at the Kevin Sites project. Original content, not community content (such as flickr and Y!groups). Let´s wait if there will be any serious news.

European blogosphere

Loic le Meur has a European Blogosphere Wiki with data on blogging is European countries, including also Austria (0.2% of the population blog), Germany (0.2%) and Poland (2.8%, whoa!).

Also there´s a list of the A list European bloggers - I´m not listed yet :-). Not surprisingly, I can´t read them all (though I know #1, #4, #5, #22, #31, and some others possibly too). Currently, though, I only read Loic Le Meur (rank #9) and Heiko Hebig (#40) - surprisingly two blogs of Typepad people. But really, I don´t have any time to read even those.

Cool blog

SifrischsonnigfunkyGreat graphics and cool text:
The blog of Comandantina Dusilova aka Andrea Maria Dusl is giving a good impression of the Viennese little shop of horrors and the Austrian Zeitgeist. No wonder ´cause Mrs Dusl works for the Vienna city magazine Falter. I´ve added this blog to my blogroll RSS reader. I like this picture on the left, it´s so fresh and nice. (via helge)

Weblogs in the sky

Boing is really into blogs. First the CEO´s blog, Randy's Journal (Randy Baseler), now the flight test journal. Now where´s Airbus?

Note to myself on air shows: this year it´s too late, but next year would be great - if it´s open to the public at all! Or stay in Austria?

Blog will change ...

0518covdctmI really like these news on blogs. (via Steve Rubel)

I don´t like the new BW blog blogspotting - covering how media, business and blogging are colliding, but in one of there first posts they had this cool picture (flickr again) which will make a great wallpaper!

lesblogs

Merde! I cannot attend lesblogs in Paris. At least there´s the photo feed (flickr) and the technorati tag. More coverage in this wiki.

Late night surfing

Actually it´s not so late, but I´m tired after some hiking today. Here are some links I´ve collected (in random order):
- rocketsociety.net, the weblog of Blundstone Osterberger, product manager for paid services at Telekom Austria
- moday.at, the mobile version of Twoday.net has been launched - it´s the mobblogging service announced by Mobilkom Austria earlier in March
- the DUDEN-website shows you everthing about the german language and even stuff you didn´t want to notice
- Testtube, my favorite net-label has released another album (#13)

Blogging for Career

Tim Bray explains why blogging is good for your career. Personally, during the current job search, I haven´t heard from anyone about reading my blog - the URL is in the CV - or googling up my name. But anyway, it´s all about communication, and someone should notice.

Cash & Carry

Adventures at the point-of-sale. A supermarket blog (in German), worth reading.

It´s unbelievable though that this supermarket blogger is doing something else than blogging - check the number of posts - such as on Wednesday, at: 06:57, 07:34, 08:58, 09:02, 09:27, 09:41, 09:56, 10:12, 10:20, 10:35, 10:57, 12:52 (seems that he did lunch break in between), 13:02, 13:26, 14:17, 15:56, 17:04, 17:48, 18:12, 18:27 and 19:40. Whoa! Should I really add an RSS feed ??????

Bigotry online

Quote of the day:

The fear that the Internet would lead to people just filtering the information that supports their own bigotry appears not to be well-founded. (Ashley Highfield, Director New Media and Technology, BBC; via DJ Alchemi)

The question here, of course, is do weblogs & RSS lead to a filtered image of the world, where people only read the information they want, dispelling the big picture and alternative opinions?! Or do webloggers lack real-person communication skills, as Elisabeth G. told me yesterday - obviously without knowing about this very blog.

Super-important

I think blogging is super-important and we've got to do a lot more software.

Bill Gates on blogging, interviewed by Joel Johnson from Gizmodo. He (Joel, not Bill) could have dressed nicer. Hey, what would you wear when you´ve got a change to meet Bill Gates?
