Today I tried out and switched my computer´s appearance to the dark Zune Theme (via vowe). A nice change to the blue Microsoft Newzealand theme I used before. But the Zune theme comes along with a Zune desktop images, so I nearly lost my favorite desktop image. Here it is again: it´s the left screen of this two-monitor image on mandolux. The left screens is hardly more that dark red, yet, there´s something visible somewhere out there.
Did I mention already that Veer has some great wallpaper images? Yes. After spotting a train on my desktop, I´d like it to feature some typography. Or Feral Glyph. Or something else! :-)
The Windows Longhorn slate theme looks quite good (found here), but for the moment I prefer that. Plus, my desktop is full of stars icons - everytime I clean up, they are back soon.
I´m constantly looking for new, great, crazy desktops (wallpapers). Once in a while, like yesterday, I turn fed up with them and change to a standard blue or dark black background. But then again I see another great picture, and select it as the new background.
On the left, there´s a FedoraCore desktop which is a really fine photograph. It´s not clear what exactly is shown there. On the right, is a BART image from Matt Haughey´s site TenYours of my life (RSS). At least for the moment, this is now my current desktop background.

Rakaz has some nice Firefox wallpapers. I guess there are now a gazillion websites offering Firefox wallpapers and many people using them, such as here and here.

Enter the SphereXP - it´s a 3D desktop replacement for Windows XP. It works great, but it´s very weird. It was like a journey into the distant future, but I had to return to the traditional XP desktop. (via Lance´s Whiteboard).
Scott Boms, the author user of ecto, the blogging desktop client application, has a great desktop images (1024x768 and 1680x1050) of the band Death Cab and their protest sign in the political mobilization initiative "Music for America" / The Protest Auction (pro-Kerry, of course; but also asking people to vote).

There´s also a great video using pictures from the artist - Joost Korngold´s video "Deep" using FatboySlim´s track "Song for Shelter" (Quicktime, 69 MB; found via Stefan Freimark) - and some work for Virgo Magazine, which you should check out as well. The Renascent website (of Joost Korngold) is also very good and shows some commercial and not-commercial projects - the videos Fuse Voodoo and Parallax are especially good.
